Welcome to thee heather project. This is my story, my take, and my thoughts on life, liberty, love and common sense.

I was born in Lima, Ohio to Lady Edna M. Owens and the late Bishop D. Lee Owens. I know, hard stop, yes, I am a PK (preacher’s kid). At an early age my parents moved to Washington, DC, where I have lived most of my life. I like to say, I am Midwest bred, and City buttered. Growing up a PK is enough to write about for the rest of time, and it has heavily influenced my perspective on life and provided lessons, some the hard way, that are invaluable for living today.

I graduated from Bowie State University with dual-degrees and have a master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Project Management from City University of Seattle. I am continuing my education to support and strengthen the work I do around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) currently at Cornell University. I am employed as a civil servant of this country and lead in areas of Employee Engagement, Training and DEIA., as well as an adjunct professor.

As a liberated Black, cis-gender, heterosexual woman (my niece taught me this), I am committed to living a life free of the opinion of others, abundant and with impact.

This blog is my hearts passion. It’s my contribution to the earth on all things that come with living, and I do mean living. We’ll talk about everything from family, to money, parenting, love, religion, sexuality, hardship, mental health, anger and everything in between. This is my outlet, my unprofessional opinion and unfiltered response. Thee heather project, is both therapy and sweet talk. So, buckle up, and come on along for this journey of thee heather project, a conversation about life, liberty, love and common sense!
